Another Endeavor

I used to model. Yep, part of an agency in New York City and everything! It was a great time for me. I'm super photogenic and I figured that was a talent of mine that I should capitalize on. In fact, I still consider it one.

After my time in New York, I moved back to Vegas and got into promotional modeling. I worked gigs from conferences to Monster Energy promotions. And I learned a thing or two about the industry that I thought could be done better.

Problems:

Promotional Models are more than just pretty faces: Most often, the companies hiring these models do so to fill an event or experiential marketing need. Oftentimes, the companies assume that the hotter the girl, the more attractive their booth/event/party. And look, I don't totally disagree. The problem is that most of these women have something more of value to offer than their pretty faces. I realized that because I was deemed as one of those pretty faces and I thought that I could offer more value to these companies than simply smiling.

Promotional Models are not empowered as marketers: Any why not? I have been asked too many times "So, tell me about the product." As a promotional model, I didn't have the answers. Why? Because I wasn't trained to have those answers. I was given my one liners to hand to customers, but didn't know much about the brand. How could I really serve the potential buyers in the booth if I didn't have the tools I needed to promote the brand adequately.

Promotional Models are not allowed to post on social media: But shouldn't they? Amplify the message of the event, send it to my thousands of followers on social, create the "fear of missing out" to my audience!
